AEL is aiming for Sammy Mejia
According to greek site sport24.gr Sammy Mejia(1.98-PG/SG) seems to be another target for AEL to cover the 2nd foreign player position. AEL initially signed Bruce Price who didn't convince coach Alexandris and later on tried Rob McKiver but that option was dismissed as well. Another target for them was Marlon Garnett but he asked for too much money, 210,000 dollars, that the grek team just couldn't cover.
Their next target seems to be combo guard Sammy Mejia who graduated from DePaul University and then proceeded to get drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 2007 at the 2nd round at number 57. The Pistons waived him in October 2007 and then he moved to the NBDL and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. He played 13 games with them averaging 19.8 points and 8.4 rebounds but the NBDL released him due an injury in the right ankle. Mejia moved to Italy and Capo Di Orlando, he averaged 11.5 points 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 13 games in the regular season of the LegaA1.
