Former Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova(2.08-PF) will face an interesting dilemma when it comes time to decide where he's going to play professional basketball next season.
The 6-foot-10 (EDITED) Turkish forward, who played in Europe this season with Regal FC Barcelona, could probably make more money if he stayed overseas rather than return to the Bucks, who continue to hold his rights. However, there could be potential to earn extended playing time in Milwaukee since it's appearing unlikely that forward Charlie Villanueva will be back.
Villanueva will be a restricted free agent this summer and, due to a lack of financial flexibility, the Bucks likely would have difficulty matching an offer sheet from another team.
Bucks general manager John Hammond traveled to Berlin last weekend to watch Barcelona split two games in the Euroleague Final Four. Ilyasova didn't play particularly well in either of the two games but that was not important to Hammond. "We weren't there to evaluate him as player," said Hammond. "We were there to support him as a player that we have the rights to."

The NBA rights belongs to Milwaukee, but he shouldn't take the risk to return to NBA unless he could play 20-25 mpg at least. And I can't see those minutes for Ersan right now.
ReplyDeleteHe could make a lot more money in Europe. It's a no-brainer really.
ReplyDeletePlease correct it: is he a 6'10'' (208cm) or a 6'9'' (206cm)?
ReplyDeleteHe is actually 2.08 but the article says 2.06.. which one do you prefer? :)
