KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee forward Tyler Smith says he may consider playing professional basketball overseas next season if the price is right. Smith, who has one year of eligibility left, has said he plans to participate in the June 25 NBA draft, but has until June 15 to withdraw his name and maintain his collegiate eligibility.
Some analysts have projected Smith to go in the second round should he remain in the draft, which wouldn't guarantee him a salary. Smith wasn't interested in playing overseas until learning of the success former Volunteers player Marcus Haislip has had playing in Europe.
Smith told The Knoxville News Sentinel he doesn't want to pass up a salary that could support his family, but he also doesn't want to leave his young son Amare behind in the U.S.
