Turow announced Wright and Deane

PGE Turow Zgorzelec announced the signings of a pair of proven Eurocup stars, big man Michael Wright and point guard Willie Deane, on Tuesday.

Wright (203, 29) arrives from Turk Telekom, where he averaged 14.6 points and 5 rebounds in 10 Eurocup games last season. Despite his size, Wright is a pivot player with an impressive array of low post moves. By signing with Turow, he returns to the country in which he began his professional career. Wright played eight Euroleague games for Idea Slask Wroclaw in the 2001-02 season. He also helped the club win the Polish League and was named MVP of the finals. Wright later appeared in the Euroleague with Pau-Orthez of France in the 2006-07 season. Other stops in his career include Granada in Spain, Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel, Alba Berlin in Germany and Besiktas ColaTurka in Turkey. Wright enters the season with a career 17.9 points per game average in the Eurocup, the fourth best of any player. Wright is also fourth in offensive rebounds per game with a 2.8 average and is ranked eighth on the Eurocup career points scored list with 663 and fourth on the offensive rebounding list with 103.

Deane (185, 29) arrives from Bulgarian powerhouse Lukoil Academic, which he helped to another league title last year. Deane was the most effective player in the 2007-08 ULEB Cup, with a 20.9 index ranking. He was second that season in assists (5.8 apg.), tied for third in steals (2.4 spg.) and seventh in both scoring (18.5 ppg.) and three-point shooting (50%). Last season Deane started the year in the Euroleague with Zalgiris Kaunas, but suffered a broken nose in just his second Euroleague game, which hampered his ability to play and led to his parting ways with the club during the year and his subsequent return to the Bulgarian side. Deane went on to average 18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2 steals the rest of the way with Lukoil Academic. He previously played for Spartak Primorie Vladivostok in Russia, Virtus Bolgona in Italy, Ionikos and Ilysiakos in Greece and Turk Telekom in Turkey. In signing Deane, Turow also announced the release of point guard Jason Richards, who originally signed last month.
