The economic meltdown in Greece is making life difficult for Virtus Bologna.
According to Corriere di Bologna it seems that in Virtus Bologna they are trying to sign players from the Greek League but given the current situation of the neighbouring country that might be a challenging task. It seems that Zoran Erceg(2.11-PF/C) was their first target. The Serbian forward/center was given to Panionios on-loan from Olympiakos and had a great season averaging 14.7 points 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20 games. Their other target from Greece was Michalis Kakiouzis(2.07-SF/PF) who is free from any games obligations after Aris was defeated 2-0 in the first round of the play-offs. Kakiouzis averaged 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in 23 games in the A1 Greek League.
The problem though is the unsteady political climate in Greece. Olimpia Milano are struggling to bring in Jamie Arnold(2.02-PF) from Peristeri and so there is an alternative. Another name in the article is Croatian power forward Mateo Kedzo(2.06-PF) who has been playing for BK Ventspils. Kedzo averaged 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in 9 games in Latvia.
