Sofoklis Shcortsanitis is in Paris now but in the back of his mind the Clippers await..
The agent of Sofoklis Schortsanitis(2.06-C), Warren LeGarie gave an interview to goalday.gr where he basically says that this is probably the right time for the Greek big man to make the next step in his career and play in the NBA.
LeGarie said that the Clippers are quite satisfied with Schortsanitis' progress both physically and mentally and he says that it is possible for Schortsanitis to get a contract of the order of 6-8 million dollars for 3 seasons. This is a contract of similar size to the one that Spanoulis got when he signed with Houston. Neil Olshey who is the new GM of the LA Clippers knows Schortanitis personally and that is a good thing for the possible transfer. LeGarie said that it's up to Schortsanitis at the moment.
The way is paved and its up to him whether he will walk it or not. He also said that Drazen Petrovic would have signed for Panathinaikos if it wasn't for his tragic accident.. I leave the comments up to you on this one. Schortsanitis has averaged 9.6 points and 3.3 rebounds so far for Olympiakos in 22 games of the regular season.

Seriously, he can only play 12-13mpg in Europe and is only getting 3 rebounds in that time. Where is he meant to get minutes in the NBA?
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he is in much better shape than he has been, but he still needs to get to 275lbs to even have a chance. He is still the last person down the court on every possession.
Sofoklis is in good shape. If the Clippers make sure he stays in good shape he can have at least 2-3 good seasons in the NBA.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about his physical condition.. he can play and read the game very well. He has very good basketball IQ.
