Real want Teodosic but..

The rumor is new.. but it will probably just remain a rumor.

The rumor has to do with a possible interest from Real Madrid about one of Olympiakos' star players, Milos Teodosic(1.95-PG). The rumor says that Real Madrid want to sign the Serbian superstar. It seems like another futile attempt by Real Madrid to find a leader after many unsuccessful attempts this past season.

Nevertheless, trying to buy the best player of Olympiakos from them is inherently, a seriously difficult task. Teodosic signed initially a 3-season contract with Olympiakos with the option to extend his contract for 2 more seasons. After the end of the Greek League play-offs, Milos Teodosic will be able to negotiate with other teams. If he so pleases, he can bring an offer from another team to Olympiakos. In that case the team
of Olympiakos can either match the offer and keep him in their roster or let him go. On top of that there is also a buy-out clause of 1.3 million euros to be paid to Olympiakos. This amount is more than the season's budget for some teams of the Greek League but for Olympiakos or Real Madrid is peanuts compared to what they've paid out already this season alone. Let's not forget here that Olympiakos paid Zeleznik 1 million euros to buy the player in the first place.

Milos Teodosic was voted in best team of the Euroleague for season 2009-2010 and his progress since he became part of Olympiakos is impressive. It seems unlikely that the owners of the Greek team will even
consider selling the player to a contender of the Euroleague title. Money is not really a problem for them, they have mountains of it.

What is likely to happen though, is a re-negotiation of Teodosic's contract. Surely the salary of 500,000 euros for this season does not reflect Teodosic's actual value in the market. It was a gamble that paid off for Olympiakos signing Teodosic back then and it was also another victory in the cold war between them and their nemesis, Panathinaikos. Teodosic was a target of Zeljko Obradovic back then but Olympiakos snatched the player from Zeleznik before anyone else did.
