Virtus Roma announced this evening that they have reached an agreement (until the end the season with an option for next year) with the American player Josh Heytvelt from the Turkish team Oyak Renault Bursa.
Joshua "Josh" Heytvelt, 211 cm, was born in Clarkston (Washington) in June 26, 1986. He began his career at Clarkston High School. From 2004 to 2009 he wore the jersey of the Bulldogs of Gonzaga University. With the Bulldogs in the 2006-2007 season, he was the second best scorer of the team with 15.5 points average and the best rebounder with 7.7 rebounds average. On February 26, 2009 had the best game of his college career, scoring 29 points and taking nine rebounds against Santa Clara. At the end of his university career he participated in the NBA Summer League with the Wizards, and this past season he joined Bursa.
In his first year as a pro in Turkey averaged 17.3 points in 35.4 minutes playing time shooting with a percentage of 59.5 in 2p shots, 36% from the three point line and 62.6% from the free throw line. He also averaged 10 rebounds per game. Heytvelt will wear jersey number 18.
