Bremerhaven extend Martin one more season

After finishing in last place in 2008-2009 and then taking The Deutsche Bank Skyliners to 5 games in the 2010 BEKO BBL Semi Finals, The Eisbaeren Bremerhaven are making strong steps in trying to keep players for next season as they decided to give American Torrell Martin (196-G/F-85, college: Winthrop) a new one year contract.

In the 2009-2010 season, Martin was one of the important players for the Eisbaeren as he averaged 11,1ppg, 5,2rpg, 2,0apg and 1,3spg. Martin showed quickly that he belongs to the top athletic players in the BEKO BBL with his play which also helped him become a fan favorite in Bremerhaven.

'We are happy that we could keep Torrell Martin for an additional season. He is not only an excellent basketball player, but also a great guy. I am more than confident that he will be able to have a strong season again with us', stressed Bremerhaven manager Jan Rathjen .

Coach Doug Spradley is also thrilled in be able to keep Martin for the next season. 'Torrell feels very comfortable in Bremerhaven. He gave the team a lot of energy with his playing style. If he can increase his offense potential, then he will be able to bring us to a new level', warned Douglas Spradley  At the moment Martin is checking his options for being able to play NBA summer League as he has interest from various NBA teams'.
