One of the best point guards in Euroleague history is set to carry on making history with Panathinaikos, as the club confirmed that Dimitris Diamantidis has extended his contract until the end of the 2012-13 season.
Diamantidis (196, 30) has led Panathinaikos to a new golden age with his one-of-a-kind defensive skills, leadership and determination. Diamantidis averaged 9.4 points on 51.6% three-pointers, 2.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 12 Euroleague games this season. He had helped Panathinaikos to win Euroleague titles in 2007 - earning Final Four MVP honors - and 2009, as well as lifting six consecutive Greek League and five Greek Cup trophies since he joined the team in summer 2004. Diamantidis made it to the All-Euroleague team in 2006-07 and was chosen as the competition's Best Defender five consecutive years from 2005 to 2009. Diamantidis arrived to Panathinaikos after three seasons with Iraklis and has become a European basketball superstar with the Greens.
