Unicaja has reached an agreement with playmaker Roderick Blakney on a two-month deal, the Spanish powerhouse announced Thursday.
Blakney (181, 34) arrives from Panellinios, where he averaged 11.1 points on 52.9% three-pointers, 3.1 assists and 1.6 steals in 16 Eurocup games last season. He helped Panellinios go all the way from the Qualifying Rounds to the Eurocup Finals and led the competition in three-point accuracy, hitting 27 of 51 shots from downtown. Blakney has also played for Turk Telekom in Turkey; Olympiacos, Maroussi, AEK and Iraklis in Greece; Dynamo Moscow Region in Russia; Los Prados and CPD Club in the Dominican Republic, Cincinnati in the IBL, Dakota in the IBA and Sioux Fall in the CBA during his lengthy career. He won the Turkish President's Cup with Turk Telekom in 2009 and made it to the Greek League finals with AEK in 2003, Marousi in 2004 and Olympiacos in 2008. Blakney steps in to replace Terrell McIntyre, who will be sidelined for at least three more weeks due to a foot injury.
