He is the hot stuff of the Greek league this summer..
According to basketblog.gr, both Panathinaikos and Olympiacos are interested in signing the most improved and valuable player of the Greek A1 league this summer. Pat Calathes (2.09-SF/PF) seems to be one of the most sought after players in Greece now that both the big spenders decided to cut down on their players' budget. Panathinaikos for instance will soon be asking Romain Sato(1.95-SG/SF) to cut down on his contract which says that he will earn 1.8 million euros next season. If he declines it(most probably) then Panathinaikos and Sato might part ways.
Panathinaikos seems to have the advantage in this case as Calathes could be playing alongside his brother. This won't be the first time, they played together at Lake Howell High School winning titles. Besides now that Fotsis is gone Panathinaikos seems to have a huge gab in the forward position and Calathes seems ideal to fill it.
Calathes has been playing for the last 3 seasons in Greece using his dual nationality and thus not occupying the slot of a foreign player. He finally had his breakout season after 2 sour seasons in Maroussi where he struggled to get playing time in the overflowing SF position.
In Kolossos he was the go to man and the MVP of the team leading them safely past the relegation zone and into the play-offs once more. He averaged 14.3 points 8.1 rebounds 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 28 games in the A1 league.
