I don't think anyone saw that coming.
One of the most unexpected transfers of this season was announced by Ploiesti in Romania. Michalis Pelekanos (1.98-SF) will be the team's new addition for next season as it was announced via their official website.
The Greek veteran opted out of his contract with Aris that he had for 2 more seasons using the buy-out clause in it and decided to move to Romania next season. Rumors had it that he wanted to return to Athens to be closer to his family and also that AEN Kifisia in Athens was the frontrunner to sign him up but in an unforeseen turn of events he signed for the Romanian League winner providing much needed experience to their roster. It seems that the reasons for the transfer seem financial although Pelekanos had quite lucrative contracts in his stints with Olympiakos and Real Madrid.
Pelekanos was an integral part of the Aris squad last season averaging 12.2 points 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 27 games in the Greek A1 league.
