Zalgiris and Tau fighting over Marko Popovic

Zalgiris Kaunas and Tau Ceramica have both made offers to Marko Popovic who is now a free-agent as his 2-year contract with Zalgiris Kaunas came to an end this summer. Popovic soon became one of the most popular players in Kaunas and the fans of Zalgiris have demanded to their team to keep him another year.

Tau Ceramica has an opening though, an empty space because of Planinic's move to CSKA and Marko Popovic seems to be one of the best candidates for the point guard position. Popovic mentioned in an interview some weeks ago that he wants to play for a Euroleague team so it seems likely he will go for one of the two offers. According to infosport.lt coach Ivanovic of Tau spoke to Popovic and let me know that he is counting on his presence next year.

He averaged 11.7 points and 2 assists in 20 games in this year's euroleague for Zalgiris.
