In Aris they're trying to save some money as finances are tight this season.
Earlier this week, David Blatt visited the offices of Aris BC, on his way to the wedding of Nikos Zisis. He said hello to friends and also discussed with Aris president Ioannis Damianidis the possibility of receiving seven-footer Jeff Foote(2.12-C) on loan for a season from Maccabi Tel Aviv. Foote signed a 3 season deal with Maccabi but he lacks European experience. This could be a good opportunity for Aris to get a quality player for a season by paying only a part of his contract. This is not final yet, as Foote is not a spare player for Maccabi at the moment.
Aris also negotiated with Olympiakos to receive Kostas Sloukas on loan for a season. Sloukas is a fan of Aris, he would like to return to Thessaloniki and he would like to get some playing time. That is something that he couldn't get in Olympiakos in the last 2 seasons. The final decision is to be made by Dusan Ivkovic, who is yet to evaluate the roster of Olympiakos and decide who stays and who goes.
The Greek team also made an offer of 100,000 dollars to Spencer Nelson(2.03-SF/PF) but chances are they won't be able to offer more money as they are on a tight budget this season, as every other team in Greece. Having lost Davon Jefferson to Villeurbanne they're also looking at other options at the moment.
These moves indicate that they could also be trying to make space in their budget for someone expensive..
