Nymburk signed Phil Ricci


CEZ Basket Nymburk has upgraded its frontline by signing Phil Ricci for the rest of the season. Ricci (201, 29) arrives from Israeli club Ironi Nahariya, where he played alongside Nymburk shooting guard Ron Lewis last season.

Ian Hanavan signed with Nymburk


6.8" Ian Hanavan has just been signed by the renewed champion of the Czech NBL CEZ Basketball Nymburk. This will be a great opportunity for both Ian and the team, that has recently claimed the sixth straight title. 

Last month the power forward has received the Belgian citizenship, becoming a Bosman A. Ian has already played in the Czech first league. Last season in fact he played with BK Prostejov where he averaged 18 ppg and grabbed 6.5 rpg.

4 youngsters tried by Bilbao


Bilbao will be trying 4 youngters over the next few days. Alexandros Sigkounas(2.02-SF) is one of them. The 21-year old forward was playing for Olympia Larissa this season but due to the team's financial problems he had to leave. Sigkounas is interested in either finding a spot in the roster of Bilbao or securing a contract where he would initially play in one of the lower leagues in order to get some playing time.  Sigkounas played 17 games in the A1 league accruing 37 points and 33 rebounds.

Slovenian point guard Danijel Vujasinovic(1.80-PG), who is 20 years old will also be tried. He was previously playing in slovenian team Hopsi Polzela and averaged 10 points and 4.3 assists in 35 games in Slovenia. Even younger is bulgarian guard/forward Hristo Zahariev(1.97-SG/SF), who comes from Fortitudo Bologna.

Finally there is czech center David Steffel(2.11-C) who played for BK Synthesia Pardubice in the Czech Republic and he averaged 15.3 points and 8.2 rebounds in 32 games.

Rieti announced Jiri Hubalek


Solsonica Rieti announced another player for this season, czech NT player Jiri Hubalek (2.11-PF/C). Jiri has just finished playing in the qualiffying games of the Eurobasket.

Jiri Hubalek played for the last 3 seasons for Iowa State in the NCAA where he averaged 12.3 points and 7.4 rebounds. In April he took part in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament where he sought to attract the eyes of the NBA and Europe scouts and he also took part in the pre-draft camp in Orlando but did not manage to get drafted. The 25-year old power forward will now be joining Rieti in the italian LegaA1 league.

In the Eurobasket qualifiers he averaged 7.5 points and 3 rebounds in 6 games and 17.8 minutes per game.

Malaga is renegotiating Welsch's contract


According to italian and spanish media Unicaja Malaga is re-negotiating Jiri Welsch's(1.98-SG/SF) contract in order to add a new clause to it that will allow them to renew his contract if they wish to. The czech player that is currently helping his National Team in the Eurobasket preliminary games has been an integral part of Unicaja Malaga over the last few years and his contribution has been valued byt the administration of the team.

Last season he averaged 9.6 points 3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 30 Euroleague games for Malaga.

Nymburg announced Goran Jagodnik


The czech champion Nymburg signed the slovenian veteran Goran Jagodnik who played last year for Hemofarm STADA. Jagodnik had a good year with Hemofarm where he averaged 14.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 18 games in the Adriatic League.
