Jure Balazic stays with Krka, coach to come


Jure Balazic decided to stay another yearh in Novo Mesto playing for Krka that renewed his contract. Balazic averaged 12.4 points 1.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in 39 games for Krka in the slovenian league.

Krka returned to the adriatic league after 4 years of absence since season 2003-2004. Krka's director Miro Zupevc stated : »We signed Balažič, Sorrentine and Marcelić all signed for one more year but now we decided to stop the further signing until the promotion of the new coach. Currently we are negotiating with some candidates among who are also Ivan Sunara and Gašper Okorn but they definitely are not the only ones. I can also confirm that Vlaidmir Mihailović already left the club and signed for some team from Czech republic as much as I know,« said Župevc who predicts that the new coach might be known in a few days.

Scavolini wants to keep Zukauskas


Scavolini Pesaro is trying to build a different team from last year according to their president Velucci they want to keep some of the more experienced players of the team unlike filling the team with youngsters as they did last year.

They are currently awaiting the answer of Mindaugas Zukauskas who played for Scavolini this year averaging 4.4 points 2.6 rebounds and 1 steals per game in 34 games of the LegaA1 league. Scavolini has proposed to renew his contract for another year. The 32-year old forward is expected to answer very soon.

Spanish radio announces Garbajosa to Malaga


Spanish radio station Onda Cero announced today the deal of Jorge Garbajosa with Unicaja Malaga. The radio station announced today that the spanish forward who left the NBA in search for a european contract will be returning to the team he left in the first place and that Real Madrid and CSKA have withdrawn from the bidding war.

According to that report Garbajosa will be making 2 million euros per year in a 3-year contract with Malaga. The deal is not official yet but the spanish station says that sooner it will be announced. Noone has confirmed or denied this rumor as of yet.

Cherkasy Monkeys are after Kaniel Dickens


Cherkasy Monkeys in Ukraine have announced via their website that they are interested in Kaniel Dickens. Dickens was one of the best scorers in the NBDL for the Colorado 14ers. He averaged 19.2 points 5.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 38 games in the D-League.

He is an NBA-class athlete but he lacks defensively. Albeit his offensive qualities are numerous especially his shooting behind the arc where he averaged 40.3% this year. He hasn't managed to secure a stable contract this year so Cherkasy want to bring this athlete to the Ukraine to impress.

Siena want to replace McIntyre with Greer

The saga of Terrell McIntyre continues as the same italian media (mondobasket) that announced his departure from the team are still now saying that the player will be moving to Panathinaikos but Minucci wants a good deal of money (close to 1 million euros)in order to release McIntyre.


Spartak announced Andrew Wisniewski


Spartak St Petersburg announced the 1-year contrac they signed with Andrew Wisniewski via their official website. Iniitally they were in between Collins and Wisniewski but in the end they chose him because of his experience in the russian league.

Wisniewski averaged 15.3 points 4.5 assists 5 rebounds and 1.2 steals in the russian Superleague this year in 22 games for Ural Great.

Avi Sukar returns to Maccabi Rishon


Avi Sukar returned to Maccabi Rishon signing a 2-year contract. The israeli point-guard played for Nahariya last year where he averaged 6 points 2.1 rebounds 3.7 assists per game in 27 games of the israeli league.

He has also played for BC Kyiv and CSKA Sophia in the 7 years he's been away from Maccabi Rishon.

Roma is closer to keeping Jaaber


According the greek sources Lottomatica Roma is going to pay the buy-out clause of Jaaber's contract with Panionios which amounts to 300.000 dollars to keep the player in their roster for the next season.

By the looks of it Roma will be losing Roko Leni Ukic who was on loan from Barcelona and who will be returning to Barcelona or heading to Toronto who have his NBA rights. Jaaber will not get his bulgarian passport after all but Roma is more than happy to keep him as an import player.

DKV is trying to regroup after serious losses


According to solobasket DKV is aiming for dutch center Henk Norel who played for Alicante in the LEB last year. DKV is having a hard time trying to compile a decent roster for next year's Euroleague competition.

The main core of the team has left or is about to. Rudy Fernandez and Gerome Moiso were the first to leave and Lubos Barton and Eduardo Sonseca are ready to follow suit. Barton is heading for Barcelona by the sound of it and Sonseca to Pamesa that is reported to have offered him a contract of 600.000 euros.

Henk Norel is 21 years old and he averaged 9.8 points and 4.8 rebounds for Alicante.

Tau wants Marcelo Huertas



Tau is making sure they cover their losses and they are preparing for the imminent move of Zoran Planinic to CSKA in order to cover their loss of Theo Papaloukas. In his place they want to secure Marcelo Huertas who had a great year with Bilbao in the ACB.

Marcelo Huertas (1.90-PG) found the playing time he needed in Bilbao in order to show his talent and although he didn't manage to get drafted in 2004 he is a euroleague-class athlete. The young brazilian has an italian passport that makes him popular in the european market.

This year he averaged 14.6 points 3.9 assists 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 34 games of the ACB.

Scavolini announced Ramel Curry


Scavolini Pesaro announced the signing of Ramel Curry via their official website. Ramel Curry (1.91-SG) played for Hapoel Jerusalem last year where he averaged 7.9 points 2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 24 games in the israeli league.

He is an experienced player with a long career in the States and Europe as well.

CSKA announced Morris and Kaun


CSKA Moscow announced via their website the signing of Terrence Morris and Sasha Kaun. This is an impressive move by the european champions that will effectively replace the loss of David Andersen who will be moving to Barcelona.

Terrence Morris had an impressive last year with Maccabi helping his team reach the Euroleague final where they lost to CSKA. Morris averaged 12.4 points 8.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. With Morris CSKA has bagged another great defensive forward.

Sasha Kaun is the first russian to win the NCAA title and he did with Kansas State. During the 2007/08 season Kaun played 40 games for the Kansas (6 starts), with averages of 17.7 minutes, 7.1 points 3.9 rebounds and1.2 blocks. Kaun signed a 3-year contract with CSKA.
