Nick Calathes to try for the Greek National Team
Nick Calathes is on his way to Athens for tryouts in order to secure a place in the men's Greek National Team. According to gazzetta.gr Nick Calathes will be travelling to Athens tomorrow where he will meet the rest of the team and he will practice with them.
This has caused quite a stir in the greek federation as he doesn't even have his greek passport issued yet nor has he been called officially to take part in the team's preparation.
Nick Calathes is probably the most talented greek at his age given the basic PG position of the Florida Gators, last year's NCAA champions, as a freshman. This year he has averaged 15.3 points 6.1 assists 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game in 36 games. He can play the 1, 2 and 3 positions with ease but he excels as a point guard. The story says that if he doesn't qualify in the men's team he will practice with U-21 team. Nick Calathes said that he is quite confident about himself and he will fight to win a place in the roster.
