Power Electronics signed playmaker Omar Cook to a two-year deal on Monday.
Cook (186, 28) arrives from Unicaja, where he averaged 9.7 points and a Euroleague-best 5.9 assists in 16 games last season. He is the Euroleague's all-time leader in assists per game (5.53) and ranks second in assists per minute (0.21) behind only Gianmarco Pozzecco. Cook helped Unicaja make it to the 2009 Spanish King's Cup final and reach back-to-back Spanish League semifinals the past two years. He was also the 2007-08 ULEB Cup assists king, dishing 6.1 per game with Crvena Zvezda.
The New York City native had also played for Dexia Mons in Belgium, CSKA Samara in Russia and Strasbourg in France before joining Zvezda. Cook was viewed as a top prospect early in his career. He was a high school star and named a McDonald's All-American before attending St. John's University. Cook later played a total of 22 games in the NBA for Portland and Toronto between 2003 and 2005 before crossing to European basketball.
