Hit with injury at the point guard position, Caja Laboral has found playmaking help in Sean Singletary, the club announced Tuesday.
Singletary (183, 24) inked a deal for the remainder of the season, although Caja Laboral keeps an option to terminate it after two months. Singletary arrives from Philadelphia of the NBA, where he was recently cut once the pre-season ended. He had an eventful 2008-09 season, playing for a couple of NBA teams - Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Bobcats - before joining the Sioux Falls Skyforce in March. He averaged 15.7 points and 3.7 assists in 3 NBDL games with the Skyforce.
Singletary had previously completed his four-year college career at the University of Virginia. He averaged 19.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 33 NCAA games with Virginia in the 2007-08 season. Singletary was an All-ACC first team for three consecutive seasons, from 2006 to 2008. By the time his signing was announced, Singletary had already joined Caja Laboral and was traveling with the team to Athens to face Maroussi on Wednesday in a Group C game.
