Besiktas released Jovo Stanojevic


Besiktas and serbian center Jovo Stanojevic(2.07-C) decided to mutually end their agreement that they signed back in August. He only played one game in the regular season with Besiktas. Rumors are that they are looking for an american center to complement the front line of the team and Besiktas will be looking in the list of players that will be released from the NBA rosters until the end of the pre-season. Stanojevic arrived from Prokom Trefl, which he helped win the Polish League championship last season.

Before that he spent five seasons with Alba Berlin, during which he won one German League championships, two German Cups and was named to the all-star team three times. He has also played for Vojvodina Novi Sad, Red Star Belgrade and Partizan Belgrade in his native Serbia, as well as for Maccabi Ironi Ra'anana in Israel. As a member of the Yugoslavian national team, Stanojevic won the bronze medal at the 1999 European Championship.

He averaged 9 points and 4.6 rebounds over 20 minutes per game in 10 Euroleague games and 10.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in 18 minutes in the Polish League with Prokom.
