Benetton is building a strong new team.

According to italian sports website www.tuttobasket.net Oktay Mahmoudi and George Buzzavo have taken their roles very seriously and are beginning to select the players for next year's roster in Benetton.

Milt Pallacio that was rumored to interest Benetton was rejected by Mahmoudi. They have set their sights on Omar Cook(1.85 PG) of Red Star Belgrade. Omar Cook has had a great year with Red Star and it is rumored that he will get a Bosnian passport that will make him essentially a Bosman player. The 26-year old PG with NBA experience averaged 16.5 points 6.5 assists and 3 steals per game in the Adriatic League and was also voted Defensive Player of the year in Serbia.

Coach Mahmoudi stated that he is not sure about keeping Mario Austin as this year he is more interested in the chemistry of the team rather than getting a player or two to do all the work.

President George Buzzavo said that they no longer want to go for unknown players like smaller teams but they will rely on known players with a proven track record.
