Aris interested in Steven Smith

In Aris things are starting to get a move on.

According to newspaper Athlitika Nea that is affiliated to Aris BC, the Greek team are interested in American power-forward Steven Smith(2.03-PF). Smith made quite an impact in Greece during season 2008-2009 playing for Kolossos Rhodes, under the guidance of coach Sferopoulos, by specialising on the fast break. Smith was averaging 18.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 21 games in the Greek league until he suffered an achilles tendon rupture that made him miss the remainder of that season and also the most part of this season.

Smith returned to action this season and played for Ironi Nahariya in Israel also doing quite well averaging 16.9 points and 7.5 rebounds in 11 games in the Israeli league. After graduating from LaSalle in 2006 he went undrafted but managed to get contracts with a few NBA and NBDL teams. In season 2007-2008 he decided to move across the Atlantic where he played for Rieti in the LegaA1. If the deal goes through it will be Aris' first transfer for the next season. Also there might be more to this rumor if it's combined with a possible interest of Aris for coach Sferopoulos. Under his guidance Smith had his best season yet.
