Kuzminskas pulls out of 2010 Draft

Mindaugas Kuzminskas decided to pull out of the 2010 NBA draft.

The twenty-year-old forward withdrew his application before the deadline to do so expiring later on today. Kuzminskas will try his luck in the next year's NBA draft and expects to go higher in the 2011 than he would have this year.

As the official version goes, this decision was made because of a tight training schedule and modest predictions on where Kuzminskas could have been drafted.

The player from Vilnius had received invitations to work out in training from New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets and Dallas  Mavericks. However, he declined all of them with the sight of the Lithuanian National Team in his future as the player wants to take a breath before the training camp with the National squad.

Kuzminskas was included in the preliminary roster of Lithuanian National team and will train with the second squad from June 30.

The player was expected to go late in the second round, therefore he will wait another year and try to go in the first round next year.

Every player wants to be drafted in the first round. Mindaugas can achieve this after a good season in Euroleague with Zalgiris Kaunas,” the player’s agency reveals.

Kuzminskas followed the example of another Lithuanian prospect Donatas Motiejunas, who also pulled out of this year’s draft.
