Siena announced Shammond Williams

Siena added another point guard to be ready for the play-offs.

Mens Sana Basket announces that they have signed the American point guard-guard with a Georgian passport, Shammond Williams, until the end off the season. The athlete was born in New York on April 5, 1975 and comes to Siena from CB Murcia (Spain). The player will arrive in Siena to undergo medical exams.

CURRICULUM VITAE

After having been part of the Fork Union Military Academy, Shammond Williams plays college ball at North Carolina. During his senior season, 1997-98, he reaches the NCAA finals; finishing with a 16.7 ppg and 4.2 apg average, while his college “career averages” are 10.7 points and 3.0 assist.

His arrival in the NBA dates back to the 1998-99 season when he is chosen in the draft by the Chicago Bulls, who immediately send him to the Atlanta Hawks, where he stays a few months before finishing the season with Ulker Istanbul. When his time in Turkey is over, Williams returns to the NBA to play for the Seattle SuperSonics, the Boston Celtics, the Denver Nuggets, the New Orleans Hornets and the Orlando Magic.

He later decides to return to the old continent and signs a contract with the Russian team, Unics Kazan, where he also obtains a Georgian passport (which allows him to wear the Nationals’ jersey). However, Williams only remains with Kazan one season before switching to Barcelona during the summer of 2005.
When his season-long adventure in Spain is over, he again returns to the NBA and signs a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, at the end of that championship, he is not reconfirmed and so he decides to head back to EuropeSpain once again – and wears jerseys for Pamesa Valencia and Unicaja Malaga before a mid-season switch to Murcia, the least team he plays for before coming to Montepaschi.
