Malaga renewed Jimenez for another season

One of the best defensive forwards in European basketball is staying put next season, as Unicaja has announced a new agreement with Carlos Jimenez for another year, the club confirmed Tuesday.

Jimenez (201, 34) will be entering his fifth consecutive season with Unicaja. He averaged 7 points on 47.2% three-pointers and 4.4 rebounds in 15 Euroleague games last season. Jimenez made his Euroleague debut with Estudiantes but moved to Malaga in the summer of 2006. He helped Unicaja to make it to the Euroleague Final Four in 2007 and lifted the Spanish King's Cup trophy with Estudiantes in 2000. Jimenez has played 573 Spanish League games - the most for any currently active player - and was the team captain of the Spanish national team that won the gold medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championships. He has also won a silver medal at the 2008 Olympic games and four other EuroBasket medals - silver 1999, 2003, 2007; bronze 2001.
